Dan MacFarlane is a pro skateboarder and instructor. After climbing through the ranks of the skateboard industry, doing well in contests, and his sponsors turning him pro, he eventually set off on his own to create Mentality Skateboards in 2003, and the bestselling instructional video "Skateboarding Explained".

Timeline:
1990 - First sponsored by Skatepark of Houston
1993 - Took 4th place in Shut Up and Skate, Street Division, and shown in 411 #3
1995 - Began instructing in skateboarding at the Encinitas YMCA (Instructed Shaun White there. He was 8)
1996 - First major sponsor, Formula One Skateboards (Omar Hassan's company)

2001 - 1st Place Damn Am
